Elected Officials

Council President & Council Member At-Large Sharon Ashe-Nadrowski

(201) 858-6019

What have been your accomplishments as a City Council Member?

Economic development - we have turned empty, abandoned, and underutilized properties into viable, functioning areas, adding value to people’s property.  New development has brought a new look, character, and streetscapes to Bayonne.  We have worked hard. We have turned Broadway around.  Lower Broadway is showing signs of development and growth.  In the Bergen Point area, we have been doing art, bringing residents and businesses together and making cultural progress with music

What things would you still like to accomplish as a Council Member?

I would like to see more actual foundations being built at the base (the former Military Ocean Terminal), along with ferry service.

We need to figure out the future of transportation in Bayonne, such as getting more buses and additional passenger cars on Light Rail.  Completing the construction on the Bayonne Bridge and the Turnpike will help.  We need to keep after the Port Authority, the Turnpike Authority, New Jersey Transit, and all of the agencies to get things done.

We need to do more with our senior citizens.  I would like to see more senior programs in the future.

What do you like about being a Council Member?

It’s good to make a difference in the community.  It’s very gratifying to help someone solve a problem.  It’s been nice meeting people I would not otherwise have met.

What is your favorite movie?

My favorite movie is The Gangs of New York.  I’ve watched it many times.  The film is quite revealing about history, politics, and revenge.  It’s about the Irish, and I’m Irish.
Do you have a favorite sports team?

I don’t have a favorite team.  My favorite sport is college basketball.

Do you have a favorite book?

My favorite books are suspense novels.

Do you have a favorite color?

What is your favorite childhood memory?

My favorite childhood memory is of walking to and from school at St. Andrew’s.  On the way to school, we would meet friends on each corner.

Is there anything else that you would like to add to your biography that would help people to understand you personally?

I have been coaching basketball since before I had kids.  I used to work with Bayonne travel teams.  Now I volunteer my time with All Saints Catholic Academy basketball and track.  I have been doing this for fifteen years, since back when it was still St. Mary’s School.
