Environmental clean-up work has progressed at Collins Park between 1st Street and the Kill Van Kull.  The PPG Company has had court-assigned responsibility to clean the site.  After more work is completed, PPG will turn the park property over to the City of Bayonne in the near future.  Per the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s requirements, PPG has generally installed a two-ft. cap of clean soil over the entire park area shown in the aerial photo, along with associated required transition work. The City has awarded a contract to reconstruct this portion of Collins Park.  Park renovations can begin after the completion of PPG’s environmental work.  Photo is courtesy of Consulting and Municipal Engineers (CME).
