Highways Food Bank Is Available Monday Through Friday All Year

Posted January 08, 2021

Mayor Jimmy Davis reminded Bayonne residents that the Highways Food Bank offers food to needy families and individuals throughout the year.  Mayor Davis said, “The Highways Food Bank distributes food that is available on a regular basis.  People in the community should be aware that this program is available to help them in their times of need.”   The Highways Food Bank is located at 155 Broadway, at the corner of 5th Street, directly across the street from Trinity Church.  The food bank is open Monday through Friday, except holidays, from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m.

Please note that the food bank moved from its former location on Hobart Avenue, where it was replaced by housing in 2018.  The food bank is located now in a former Pamrapo bank branch.

When people come to the Highways food bank for the first time, they need to bring the following: 1.) Photo ID for all adults in the household. 2.) Birth certificates for children under 18 in the household.  3.) Proof of address (such as rent bill or receipt). 4.) Proof of income (current income). 5.) Reusable bags.

Each time after the first visit, people coming to the food bank need bring only their photo ID and bags.  Individuals and families are entitled to food every two weeks.

The Highways Food Bank receives donated groceries from local stores and other food distributors.  Highways is associated with Trinity Parish in Bergen Point.  The food bank serves people in need regardless of their religious affiliation.
