Mayor Sharon Nadrowski and Police Chief Joseph Scerbo announced that Bayonne will participate in the 43rd annual National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The event will feature light refreshments and musical entertainment on Broadway between 21st Street and 24th Street. The event is being organized by the Bayonne Police Department. National Night Out is a nationwide event that is designed to bring communities and police departments together for the fight against crime.

Mayor Nadrowski said, "The City of Bayonne is happy to take part in this great national event, which brings police departments and communities together across the nation and around the world. I would like to invite our residents to build a positive relationship with the Bayonne Police Department while enjoying National Night Out."

Police Chief Joseph Scerbo said, "Community-oriented policing is a strong part of the Bayonne Police Department. All officers have the responsibility to build positive relationships with our residents and to work with them to improve public safety. Please come to National Night out to meet Bayonne police officers and members of other law enforcement agencies who will be joining us."

Participating agencies and businesses include the Bayonne Police Department, the Bayonne Fire Department, the Hudson Couty Sheriff's Department, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office, McCabe Ambulance, the IMTT Fire Department, the Port Authority Police Department, and the New Jersey State Police.

Other organizations will distribute information at tables at the event.

National Night Out in Bayonne will feature free light refreshments, music by a DJ and a band, and displays from public safety and law enforcement agencies. Trucks from the Bayonne Fire Department and IMTT will be on display. No goods or services are allowed to be sold at National Night Out.

Local sponsors of National Night Out include Shop-Rite, Tropicana Products, the Bayonne Housing Authority, Starbucks, and 7-Eleven, Inc.

Please note that there is no rain date for National Night Out.

National Night Out began in 1984. It has grown to include 38 million people and more than 16,000 communities from all fifty American states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and militmy bases worldwide.
