Bayonne Police Department Launches Initiative for Special Needs Registry
Posted June 04, 2026The Bayonne Police Department is proud to announce the launch of its new Special Needs Registry Initiative, a voluntary program designed to help first responders serve and protect better the members of our community with special needs. Police Chief Joseph Scerbo said, “This registry provides families and caregivers with a secure and confidential way to share important information that may assist police officers and emergency responders during interactions or emergencies.” Chief Scerbo continued, “Our goal is to strengthen communication, improve understanding, and enhance the safety and well-being of individuals with special needs throughout Bayonne.”
To introduce this initiative officially, the Bayonne Police Department Community Outreach Unit will host a Special Needs Community Event on Thursday, June 11, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Bayonne Community Museum, 229-231 Broadway at 9th Street.
