BAYONNE STUDENTS WIN AWARDS, ADVANCE TO NATIONAL LEVEL OF NATIONAL HISTORY DAY COMPETITION
Posted May 08, 2026The Bayonne Board of Education has advised the City of Bayonne that local students won numerous awards at the recent statewide competition for National History Day (NHD). This past weekend, Bayonne students represented our school district in the New Jersey National History Day State Competition at William Paterson University with outstanding success.
According to Gina Nowak, National History Day Coordinator for the Bayonne Board of Education, “After months of research, analysis of primary and secondary sources, and ongoing revision, our students demonstrated an exceptional level of scholarship and dedication to their work.” Ms. Nowak continued, “I am proud to share that six student projects have advanced to the National History Day National Competition in June. In addition, Bayonne achieved a remarkable sweep in the podcast category, earning top honors in both the junior and senior divisions. Our students were also recognized with two special awards, bringing the district’s total to eleven awards overall. Congratulations to all of our students and educators for representing Bayonne with such pride and excellence.”
