Bayonne Building Department to Replace Continuing Certificates of Occupancy (CCO’s) With Resale Certificates
Posted September 30, 2025Effective Wednesday, October 1, 2025 the Bayonne Building Department will replace Continuing Certificates of Occupancy (CCO’s) with Resale Certificates. These are the certificates needed when a property owner is selling one-family homes, two-family homes, multi-family dwellings, or commercial buildings. These certificates enable current owners to sell properties that will continue to be utilized for their current use after they are sold. Instead of doing CCO inspections, the Building Department will do resale inspections for buildings that are being sold. Only the name of the certificate is changing. However, the application for the renamed certificate has been simplified and shortened.
Anyone with questions about Resale Certificates should contact Construction Official Joseph Benkert at 201-858-6334 or Permit Clerk Krystle Chwalyk at 201-858-6073.
