Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that a story about the Bayonne Bridge will be featured on How Did They Build That? on the Smithsonian Channel on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at 9:00 p.m. The segment focuses on the Raise the Roadway Project (2013-2019), which lifted the Bayonne Bridge by 64 feet over the Kill Van Kull. That project enabled taller, modern ships to fit under the Bayonne Bridge on their way to and from Port Newark and Port Elizabeth.  As a result of raising the bridge, thousands of jobs were saved in the metropolitan area.  

The Bayonne Bridge story on the program includes interviews with Mayor Davis and others who played important roles during the Raise the Roadway project. Curve Media, a London-based company, produced the Bayonne Bridge story. In addition to conducting interviews, Curve Media carried out research and did film shoots in Bayonne and elsewhere for the program.
