Bayonne Police Department Announces Promotions
Posted July 15, 2025The Bayonne Police Department announced that five officers have assumed higher ranks this month. Andrew Quinn has been promoted from Captain to Deputy Chief. Joseph Torello and William Dundas have been promoted from Sergeants to Lieutenants. Jason Olmo and Edward Cook, Jr. have been promoted from Police Officers to Sergeants. The promotions resulted from competitive civil service examinations.
At a ceremony in the City Council Chambers on July 9, 2025 Mayor Jimmy Davis congratulated the promoted officers and thanked their families for the “six-to-nine months” that they spent watching the officers study for their civil service examinations. Public Safety Director Robert Kubert called it “a well-earned and joyous occasion.” He referred to the promoted officers as “dedicated personnel” who “are very good at what they do.” Police Chief Robert Geisler thanked Mayor Davis and the City Council for supporting the department. Chief Geisler said that the promoted officers are all “well-rounded professionals.” He asked them to pass along their knowledge to the officers they supervise. Chief Geisler said that the Bayonne Police Department provides “the highest level of service.”
