Mayor Davis donates to Bayonne High School Model UN Team for their travel expenses: The team has been invited to the Harvard Model United Nations conference in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. The event is set for January 2025.  Model UN teams do research and play the roles of different countries’ delegations to the UN. With his contribution to the team, Mayor Davis hopes to encourage others in the community to support the students’ fundraising drive. The Bayonne High School Model UN Team has been invited to the Harvard Model United Nations conference in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. The event is set for January 2025.  Model UN teams do research and play the roles of different countries’ delegations to the United Nations. The Harvard Dubai Model UN will include student versions of real functions of the United Nations, complete with a General Assembly, an Economic and Social Council, and Crisis Committees. Harvard University students will staff the event in Dubai.

Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis made a donation from private funds to the Bayonne High School team, which is seeking financial support from the community for its travel expenses.  He said, “This talented group of Bayonne High School students has a unique opportunity to represent Bayonne at this prestigious event in Dubai.  It is an honor to help the team participate.  I would like to encourage the entire community to support the Bayonne High School Model UN Team.”

Mayor Davis continued, “I am asking everyone who is proud of our students to show them your support.”  He continued, “A great way to express our community’s pride in our Model UN students would be to send checks to the Bayonne Board of Education, 669 Avenue A, Bayonne, NJ 07002.  Please write ‘Model UN Dubai’ in the memo line on your check.  Thank you very much for helping these outstanding Bayonne High School students achieve their dream of attending this important program in Dubai.”
