On Wednesday, May 7, Hudson County honored Diane Sondy of Bayonne as the county’s Senior of the Year at a luncheon in Jersey City.  Before that event, Mayor Jimmy Davis had named her as Bayonne’s Senior of the Year.  Mayor Davis said, “We are very happy to recognize Diane Sondy’s great contributions to Bayonne and the Hudson County community.  She plays a leading role in several non-profit charitable organizations and community groups.   Diane is truly worthy of the honors she has received this week from the City of Bayonne and the County of Hudson.”

Ms. Sondy, a retired Clinical Psychologist, earned a Bachelor’s degree at New York University in Psychology and Urban Studies.  She received two Master’s degrees in Clinical Psychology at Columbia University, where she also completed the coursework towards a doctorate.

As a cancer survivor, Ms. Sondy is dedicated to raising awareness about cancer prevention. As an Executive Board Member of the MoHair Foundation, she has raised funds to provide people in need with hair replacement. She has also raised funds for the Bayonne Chapter of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Diane Sondy has donated her time as a healthcare advocate for the Bayonne and Jersey City communities. She serves as an Ambassador and Committee Member for the Bayonne Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Sondy serves as President of Assemblyman William Sampson’s Civic Association, an organization that advocates for issues and projects that benefit the people of Bayonne and Jersey City.
