Food Truck Festival Set for Bayonne on Saturday, May 4
Posted April 22, 2024Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that Bayonne is hosting its fifth food truck festival on Saturday, May 4, from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. Mayor Davis said, “We are happy to welcome the food truck festival back to Avenue E in 2024. This great event will offer people a day to try cuisine from the best food trucks in the region. We look forward to seeing both Bayonne residents and visitors from other communities as we bring the food trucks back to our city. The food truck festival will welcome people to Bayonne to celebrate the spring and to see how great our community is.” Mayor Davis continued, “The City of Bayonne encourages people to arrive by Light Rail at the 22nd Street Station. It will be an easy way to come to the festival and see what Bayonne has to offer.”
The food truck festival is sponsored by the Bayonne Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ). Bayonne UEZ Coordinator Jackie Farber said, “I would like to encourage our metropolitan area neighbors to come to town, support our local businesses, and enjoy the food truck festival. We hope you will come back to Bayonne again to shop, dine, and enjoy our growing community.”
The festival will take place on Avenue E between 22nd and 24th Streets. In order to accommodate the festival, portions of Avenue E will be closed to traffic. A variety of vendors will be selling food and other items out of food trucks, tents, and tables. The trucks and tents will offer a great assortment of foods from a variety of cultures.
The twenty-eight participating vendors will include: Mozzarepas, Little Sicilian (rice balls), Athens Delite (Greek), Maos Bao, Latin Bites, Mactruck (Gourmet Mac ‘n Cheese), La Rosa Chicken, Cousins Maine Lobster, Chavas Empanadas, Taste of Poland, House of Cupcakes, El Chilango Taqueria, Yankee Doodle, Cold Stone Creamery, Jersey John’s House of Dogs, The Steak Truck, Angry Archies, Carnival Concessions, Tbarks, Twisted Steaks, Shrimp Shack, Bacon On A Stick, Ma and Pa’s Pina Coladas, Flora Vegetarian, Savage Burgers, Hibachi Truck, Crepe Suzette, and Just Delicious Kettle Corn.
In addition to the food trucks and tents, the event will include children’s rides, live music, and a beer and wine garden for the adults. The children’s rides will be in Sister Miriam Teresa Park, which is located on Gregg Lane between 23rd and 24th Streets. The beer and wine garden will be located on 23rd Street towards Gregg Lane. The beverages will come from Hudson County 902 Brewing and Sangria.
The musical entertainment will feature concerts from 12:30-3:30 p.m. and 4:00-7:00 p.m. A stage for performances will be set up at 23rd Street and Avenue E.
Musical entertainment will be provided by two groups: Isn’t It Always? and Ladies & Gentlemen.
Isn’t It Always? plays what the band calls “rock music for the 21st century.” The group launched a single called “Rock Star” on @Hit Nation Empire, @Sony Music, and @The_orchard. They are a New Jersey-based band that has played Atlantic City and other South Jersey locations.
Ladies & Gentlemen offers classic songs from the 1960’s to the 1990’s. They offer three-part harmonies, driving rhythms, and soaring guitar solos. The group has played in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and throughout the Northeast.
Admission to the festival is free. Members of the public will purchase their own choices of food, beverages, and children’s rides.
For safety reasons, several “Road Closed,” “Local Traffic Only,” and “No Parking” signs will be posted in and around the affected portions of the Avenue E corridor. Variable message signs will also be used to announce information to motorists. Police and Fire Department vehicles will assist in creating safety perimeters for the event. Set-up for the event will begin at 7:00 a.m.
Parking lots will be available in several locations: Lots 6 and 7 – 23rd Street and Church Lane; Lots 8 and 9 – East 26th Street between Broadway and Avenue E; and the Barnabas Medical Center parking deck at 24th Street and DelMonte Drive. Public metered parking will also be available along the Broadway corridor. Pay station and parking meter enforcement will be in effect.
Rain date: Sunday, May 5, is the rain date for the food truck festival. If the rain date were needed, the same hours and other details announced for Saturday, May 4, would be in effect on Sunday, May 5. In the event of predictions of severely inclement weather for Saturday, May 4, a decision about using the rain date for the festival would be made by the day before.
