2024 Bayonne Police Recruitment Drive
Posted March 07, 2024Mayor James Davis and Chief of Police Robert Geisler announce that applications for the examination for the position of Police Officer are currently available.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens and residents of Bayonne as of April 1, 2024. All applicants must maintain continuous Bayonne residency up to and including the time of appointment. In addition, applicants must be at least 18 years of age as of April 1, 2024 and no older than 34 years of age as of this date unless a recognized exception to this requirement exists. Applicants must also possess a high school or vocational diploma or an approved High School Equivalent Certificate by April 1, 2024 and possess a valid New Jersey Driver's License at the time of appointment.
Applicants will be required to complete a written examination administered by the New Jersey Civil Service Commission. Applications are only able to be completed online on the Civil Service website at www.nj.gov/csc. A fee of $30.00 must accompany the application (this fee may be waived under certain circumstances, as indicated in the application package).
The closing date for the receipt of applications is April 1, 2024. All applications must be submitted on or before this date. The examination is tentatively scheduled for the Summer of 2024.

The Bayonne Police Department will be partnering with local community leaders for the upcoming New Jersey Civil Service Commission Entry Level Law Enforcement Examination. The Bayonne Youth Center, Wallace Temple AME Zion Church and The Bayonne Chapter NAACP will be participating in this Recruitment Drive. Members from the Bayonne Police Department Community Policing Unit will be on hand at each event listed below to assist residents with filing out the on line application. Applicants may bring their own device or utilize a computer that will be provided by the event host to complete the application process.

- Saturday, March 16, 2024, The Bayonne Youth Center, 524 Kennedy Boulevard, 11 :30am until 3:30pm.
- Thursday, March 21, 2024, Bayonne Public Library, Story Court Branch, 16 West 4th Street, 5:00pm until 8:00pm.
- Saturday, March 23, 2024, Wallace Temple AME Zion Church, 392 Avenue C, 11 :30am until 3:30pm.
- Thursday, March 28, 2024, Bayonne Public Library, Story Court Branch, 16 West 4th Street, 5:00pm until 8:00pm.
- Saturday, March 30, 2024, The Bayonne Chapter NAACP, 27th Street and Avenue C (near Francis G. Fitzpatrick Park), 11 :30am until 3:30pm. The Bayonne Police Command Center will be on site.
