Division of Recreation Special Needs Sports Program & Ability Day Program to Team Up Once Again With "Special Dragons" 🥋
Posted September 05, 2023Division of Recreation Special Needs Sports Program to team up with "Special Dragons," a Karate Program specifically designed for children and young adults with special needs.
Special Dragons was founded in 2012 by George Bostory, a certified special education teacher and three time intercollegiate black belt karate champion. It was formed due to the lack of physical sport activities available to children with special needs. George envisioned combining his special-education background with his martial arts experience, and Special Dragons Karate was born.
SPECIAL DRAGONS classes uses basic karate techniques to address issues like, eye/hand coordination, motor control, balance, sensory integration, conditioning, focus, time on task, and other challenges faced by those with special needs.
The Ability Day Program will meet September 19th for their 1st class of the year.
”We are excited to team up with George & Special Dragons! We had a great experience last year and are happy to provide this great opportunity!" stated Pete Amadeo, Superintendent of Recreation.
There is no cost to participate.
