Mayor Davis Boosts Small Business Saturday

Mayor Jimmy Davis has issued a proclamation declaring Saturday, November 26, 2022 to be Small Business Saturday in the City of Bayonne.  Mayor Davis said, “Small businesses are the backbone of our community.  They provide goods, services, and jobs to thousands of our residents.”  Mayor Davis continued, “As the holiday shopping season begins, please remember to patronize Bayonne’s stores, restaurants, and other small businesses during and after the holiday season.”

Mayor Davis, the City Council Members, and Jackie Farber, Coordinator of Bayonne’s Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ), traveled around the community this month to present the proclamation for Small Business Saturday to an assortment of businesses in each of Bayonne’s three wards.


VJC’s BOUTIQUE: This store is a family boutique specializing in apparel and accessories at 196 Broadway.  Vicki Tooker and Joy Ramos are the owners.  Pictured in the photo are: First Ward Council Member Neil Carroll, Joy Ramos, Vicki Tooker, Mayor Jimmy Davis, and Council Member At-Large Juan Perez.


Different Strokes for Little Folks: Gale Folger and Joyce Chmiel, two sisters from Bayonne, opened this store in 1978, and have been in business for 44 years. They offer domestic and imported childrenswear at 11 West 22nd Street.  They say the best part of their business has been meeting and socializing with their customers.  Pictured left to right: Mayor Jimmy Davis, employee Jenna Sweeney, and Council Member At-Large Juan Perez.


Aaron’s Gold: This store started in 1952 as a women’s shop selling sweaters, scarves, and gloves.  Later, it changed to all fine gold and silver, along with repairs of jewelry and watches at 520 Broadway.  Pictured in the photo are: Council Member At-Large Juan Perez, Mayor Jimmy Davis, owner Bernard Golumb and members of the Golumb family.


Off 34th: Off 34th is a boutique that features sportswear, dressy dresses, and accessories.  The owner is Kathleen Hurley.  The store is located near 34th Street at 755 Broadway.  Pictured left to right: City Council President/Third Ward Council Member Gary LaPelusa, Mayor Jimmy Davis, owner Kathleen Hurley, and Council Member At-Large Juan Perez.
