Bayonne Holds Promotion Ceremony for Six Police Officers

On Thursday, February 10, 2022 the Bayonne Police Department held a ceremony for the promotion of six police officers to their new ranks. The officers with their new ranks are Lieutenant David J. Conte, Lieutenant Michael T. Zajac, Sergeant Matthew Target III, Sergeant Julian Lewis, Sergeant William Dundas V, and Sergeant Antonio Spano. The promotions are the result of competitive examinations administered by the State of New Jersey’s Civil Service Commission.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mayor Jimmy Davis congratulated the promoted officers on their “long journey” to their new ranks. He said to the new sergeants that it was now their turn to teach those officers who are on patrol. Mayor Davis thanked the police families for their support and for allowing their loved ones to protect Bayonne. He added, “It is our job to give them the tools they need to return safely to their families.”
City Council President Sharon Ashe-Nadrowski said it was “a proud day for the City of Bayonne and the Bayonne Police Department.” She thanked the new lieutenants and sergeants for their “dedication, hard work, and sacrifices for the citizens of Bayonne.” She wished them all “a successful career.”
Public Safety Director Robert Kubert said that the newly promoted officers “have proven themselves academically” and have “performed their duties admirably.” He thanked Mayor Davis and the City Council for their support of public safety.
