Recycling Stickers
- Recycling stickers can be
obtained, free of charge at City Hall, Health
Department, First Floor, Room #18. City Hall
is located at 630 Avenue C between 27th and 28th
Streets.

Occasionally we generate excess
amounts of Wood Chips and Fire Wood which are made
available to our residents, free of charge, at our
Drop-Off Site. It is recommended that you
call ahead to our Drop-Off Site at 201-858-6189 to
determine availability.
Hudson
County Improvement Authority

The Hudson County
Improvement Authority (HCIA) accepts particular
types of household hazardous waste and handles
electronic recycling at certain times and places
that are announced each year. For more

Commingled
Recycling Collection
-
Definition:
Our Commingled (Mixed) Collection
consists of glass bottles, and jars, tin cans,
aluminum cans and plastic bottles.
Glass
Bottles and Jars
Includes the various kinds of container
you are likely to find in your refrigerator or
food cabinet. This category would include
soda bottles, beer bottles, catsup bottles, pickle
jars. etc.
This category does not
include plate glass, light bulbs, window glass,
Pyrex, glass cookware, drinking glasses, cups,
dishes, bowls, or mirrors. All of these
items still go into the regular garbage.
Aluminum Cans
Mean cans only. These are usually beer or
soda cans.
This category does not
include aluminum pie plates or cooking pans,
aluminum foil, or any other type of aluminum
product.
Tin Cans
Includes cans made of tin or bi-metal which
are used to package canned soups, canned
vegetables and canned juices.
This category includes cans only and
does not
include any other products made of tin or
bi-metals.
Plastic Bottles
Includes bottles that have either the #1 or
the #2 stamped on the bottom inside a triangle.
Acceptable plastic bottles would include two (2)
liter sized soda bottles, one (1) gallon sized
milk jugs, liquid detergent bottles, hair shampoo
bottles, or hair conditioner bottles.
We cannot
accept plastic bottles which have had motor
oil or pharmaceutical products or medicines in
them. This category is for plastic bottles
only. We cannot accept plastic tubs, such as
those in which margarine or butter are sold.
- Packaging Instructions:
Commingled (mixed) glass bottles and jars,
aluminum cans, tin cans and plastic bottles
should be put out at curbside in a sturdy
plastic or metal trash bucket or garbage can
with a recycling sticker attached.
Recycling stickers can be obtained in City Hall
in the Department of Health and Welfare, Room #
18.
Please
do not put this material out in plastic bags.
Recyclables put out at curbside in plastic bags
will not be picked up!

Scrap Metal
Recycling Collection
- Definition:
Scrap metal is defined as large metal objects.
Items included in this collection are:
refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers,
furnaces, stoves, ranges, hot water heaters, air
conditioners, trash compactors, dishwashers,
bicycles, metal lawn furniture, and metal
cabinets.
Items which cannot
be included with this collection are: Venetian
blinds, metal furniture with wood, chain link
fencing, televisions, radios, batteries, gas
tanks, mufflers, tail pipes, catalytic
converters, cable strapping, bailing wire, metal
paint cans, fluorescent lighting fixtures, and
any non-metallic material.
- Packaging Instructions:
Remove all doors from
refrigerators and other large appliances for the
safety of the neighborhood children.

Site
Bayonne has a fully functional
Recycling Drop-Off Site on Hook Road (See Map).
The Recycling Drop-Off Site
is open from Monday thru Friday from 8:30 a.m. to
4:00 p.m.

Recycling materials accepted at our drop-off site
are as follows: |

Mixed paper - includes
newspapers, magazines, junk mail, corrugated
cardboard, brown paper bags, shoe boxes, and
gift boxes.

Commingled glass bottles and
jars, aluminum cans, tin cans, and plastic
bottles.

Scrap Metal which includes
refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers,
stoves, air conditioners, de-humidifiers, and
hot water heaters.

Automobile Tires - limited to
four (4) tires per resident. Bayonne
residents only.
-
Used Motor Oil - limited to
motor oil from automobile engines. Cannot
accept any other kind of petroleum product.
Limited to residents doing oil changes on
personally owned vehicles.

Spent Anti-Freeze - limited to
anti freeze drained from automobile radiators
only. No other liquid chemical product can
be accepted. Bayonne residents only.

Used Motor Oil Filters - limited
to oil filters from automobiles only.
Bayonne residents only.

Tree Parts - limited to limbs
and branches from trees. Does not include
processed lumber or wood from any construction
and/or demolition project of any kind.
Bayonne residents only. No contractors.

household batteries.
