Residential Parking Permits


PROMULGATED PURSUANT TO THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF BAYONNE, CHAPTER X, TRAFFIC SECTION 10-23 ET SEQ

Pursuant to the authority provided in Chapter 10, Section 10-23 of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Bayonne, the Mayor has determined certain residential areas within the City of Bayonne are impacted by commuter vehicles and accordingly, initiates the creation of the following residential permit parking areas to alleviate and restrict the unfavorable parking conditions  outside flow ofcommuter traffic into said residential neighborhoods, thereby enhancing the quality of life by reducing noise, and alleviating traffic hazards and litter within said residential areas.  The affected areas include:

 

WHITE ZONE (Effective July 1st, 2004)

The above designated area shall constitute the YELLOW ZONE.

Violations cost $58.00 per infraction for the Blue, White, Green, Yellow and Red Zones.  Permits - which are free to residents and issued through the Bayonne Parking Authority are required to park for more than three hours on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. in the parking zones. You do not need a parking permit on weekends.

A residential parking permit will not be issued to anyone with outstanding traffic violations, a suspended driver's license, or suspended vehicle registration

Obtaining A Residential Permit Parking Sticker

Eligible persons may obtain a residential permit parking sticker in person or through the mail upon submission of the appropriate documentation and a self-addressed stamped return envelope.  The business owner/employer of those employees who are eligible for the permit parking stickers as a result of employment within the BLUE, GREEN, WHITE, RED or YELLOW ZONES should collect and collectively submit the necessary information and documentation in support of his/her employees' application(s).  Residential permit parking stickers are renewable by mail on an annual basis and must be submitted during the thirty (30) day period next preceding the permits expiration.

Requirements for Parking Permits

Residents of Bayonne:

1. Drivers license
2. Registration
3. If registration bears a different name other then the person applying for the permit the following is needed:
a. Notarized letter from the bearer on the registration stating that they give full permission to the applicant. The letter must contain the entire vehicle information.
4. Proof of residency:
a. Telephone bill ( not wireless )
b. PSE&G
c. Credit card bill
d. Tax or water bill
e. All of the above must contain the name of the applicant.
5. If the car is leased a copy of the insurance is needed.
6. If the applicant is new to the city and can't prove residency with the above, a copy of a lease or rent receipt containing all information is acceptable.
7. All applications/re-applications submitted must have copies of all info
attached.

Non-Residents:

1. Same as the above #'s 1,2,3 5, and 7.
2. The employer must complete, sign and date Section 2 and provide proof of employment.
3. The employer is responsible for retrieving the sticker when an employee leaves.
4. The employer must return any renewal applications of employees no longer employed.
5. A check or money order is needed for $160.50 made out to the Bayonne Parking Authority.

Please be advised:

1. If a car bearing Bayonne Parking permit is traded/sold the Permit Sticker and Visitor Passes must be returned to Room #14 in City Hall.
2. Permits can NOT be switched from one car to another.
3. Permits can be removed from the window with Windex at year-end or sale of.
4. When re-applying for new permit a new application must be filled out.
5. Permit must be placed in the back windshield upper left-hand corner.
6. If the windows are tinted, permit can still be placed in the back windshield.
7. If you receive a renewal application for a vehicle that you have already sold/junked/traded, it must be returned indicating that it no longer exists.

Residency, Ownership / Use of Property within Zone

In order to establish residency, an applicant must establish ownership, rental or lease of property situated in within one block of the area bound and designated as the BLUE, GREEN, WHITE, RED or YELLOW Zone.  Acceptable documents include: deed, tax bill, lease agreement, or sworn letter / affidavit from landlord: or telephone, PSE&G or other utility bill.
