The Hudson-Bergen LIGHT RAIL is the first
modern light rail transportation system to be
built in New Jersey in the last 50 years. The
proposed 20.5-mile light rail system travels
through the communities of Bayonne, Jersey City,
Hoboken, Weehawken, West New York, North Bergen
and Ridgefield.
With a population of more than 600,000, and 104
different cultural groups, this is the most
densely populated region in the State.
Upon completion, the system will encompass 32
stations and five regional park- rides lots with
a total of 7,000 spaces. The Hudson-Bergen LIGHT
RAIL will incorporate use of rights-of-way of
abandoned as well as currently active freight
lines and developer-provided easements.
