Sharon Ash Nadrowski

Council President;  Council Member At-Large

Sharon Ashe Nadrowski was born and raised in Bayonne by Harry and the late Dorothy Ashe. She is married to Charlie Nadrowski; they have three children Dana, Brenna and Charlie Jr.

Sharon is a graduate of St. Andrews Grammar School and Bayonne High School. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science at NJCU.

Sharon is employed in the private sector as a Microsoft Database Engineer for over 20 years.

Sharon has been active member of the Bayonne Community. She was a coach for the Bayonne Girls Travel Basketball team for many years.

Sharon instituted and coached the track program at St. Mary’s Grammar School in 2003 and has continued coaching the track program with the merge of the Bayonne catholic schools for All Saints Catholic Academy. She was a CYO basketball coach for both St. Mary’s and ASCA. Sharon is also the Athletic Director for ASCA as well as a past member of the PTA.

Sharon is a current member and past vice president of the Irish American League in Bayonne where she is also on the Annual Claddagh Dance committee. She is a member of both the Bayonne Shamrock Society and Bayonne St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee.

She is an active member of the St. Mary’s Parish. She was on the committee for St. Mary’s 150th Anniversary celebration, volunteer for St. Mary’s CityWide Pee Wee Program and St. Mary’s carnival committee. She was also a member of the committee that instituted the Soup Kitchen in Bayonne.

Sharon is the City of Bayonne’s first female Council President.

Juan M. Perez, Council Member At-Large

Juan Manuel Perez was born in a large family being one of fifteen children. He grew up in an honest, but poor household and was the first one in his family to go forward and graduate from college. Juan attended the public schools and then went on to earn a bachelor’s degree at Jersey City State College (currently New Jersey City University).

Mr. Perez upon graduating college became an elementary school teacher working in the Jersey City Public Schools and then realized that his career goals were in the area of law enforcement. He passed the rigid entry examination for the New Jersey State Police and moved up through the ranks by way of merit to the rank of Captain. During his tenure at the State Police he was assigned road duty, executive protection to the Governor, assignments at the New Jersey Sports Complex where he affected arrests in the area involving narcotics, assault, sexual assault and other criminal violations. He was assigned to the Investigation Unit and conducted criminal investigations throughout the state. Prior to his retirement he served as Captain, Field Operations Bureau where he provided supervision to officers within the State Police organization.

Mr. Perez served as Deputy Director, Jersey City Police Department where he was active in many areas of administrative supervision including but not limited to the Closed Circuit Television Unit, Hearing Officer and recruitment efforts.

In 2008 Juan Perez was elected the first Hispanic Sheriff in the State of New Jersey being sworn in on January 1, 2009 as Sheriff of Hudson County. He was able to move the department forward with full recognition from federal, state and local law enforcement. He brought back dignity and professionalism to the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office by using innovative and technological advancements.

Mr. Perez is the founding father and past president of the Hispanic Law Enforcement Association, past Board Trustee and Vice Chair of the Jersey City Medical Center Board, Lieutenant-Civil Air Patrol, State Trooper of the Year in 2003 and 2006 by the parade committee and Grand Marshal of the Bayonne Hispanic Day Parade in 2007.

Mr. Perez possesses a history of activity and participation in the labor movement being a member of the Jersey City Education Association (teacher’s union), State Troopers Fraternal Association and as a Board Trustee of the Jersey City Medical Center fought for the rights of workers in the 1199J Unions. During Perez’s tenure as Sheriff of Hudson County the officers received one of the largest wage increases of 30% and he increased the yearly uniform allowance to the officers for their required uniforms.

Thomas Cotter
First Ward Council Member


Thomas “Tommy” Cotter is a life-long resident of Bayonne’s First Ward where he continues to live with his wife, Stephenie Fisette. Tommy has three children; Jenny, Thomas and Morgan and three grandchildren Taylor, Cameron and Jake. His parents Aggie and Danny Cotter spent most of their adult (50)life in the same neighborhood and raised their children, Danny, Kathy, Tommy, Kevin and Brian there as well.

Tommy is a product of both St. Andrew’s and Henry Harris grammar schools and graduated from Bayonne High School. He went on to study accounting and business law at St. Peter’s College in Jersey City.

Tommy has long been known for his energetic and dynamic personality. Before retiring from IMTT, Tommy was a member of AFL-CIO Local 8406 and served as steward and chief steward.   Since his retirement, Tommy has dedicated himself to raising his children and being very active in their school and extra-curricular activities. He is a member of the Henry Harris PTA and served as President for eight years. He took a leadership role in raising thousands of dollars for technology upgrades in the school, most notably equipping classrooms with “Smart Boards”.

Tommy is also very involved with Little League Baseball and serves as president of the Charlie Hattenberg Minor Leagues. Tommy was the driving force in the revitalization of the “Pony League” field. He worked with local business to secure over $100,000 in private funding to make the necessary renovations with absolutely no cost to the taxpayers.

Tommy and his wife established a travel baseball program that annually sponsors a trip to Cooperstown NY that gives the children of Bayonne an opportunity to play in a week long national tournament

Tommy is well known for getting a job done. He is accessible and approachable. He is the man you want to represent you and your family in the first ward!

Salvatore Gullace is a lifelong resident of Bayonne. He and his wife Donna have three children, Brandon, Ryan and Kirsten. Sal also has a son, Sal Jr. Sal attended St. Henry’s grammar school and Bayonne High School. After graduating High School, he completed his college education at Hudson County Community College.

Sal is a facility manager at Saint Henry’s Church for the past 30 years. He can be found helping seniors and fellow parishioners at services and events there. Sal also owns both a successful construction company and a property management firm in Bayonne.

Sal is active in the community serving as a volunteer for the Bayonne Fire Canteen. He also served as a member of the BEOF board of trustees and is committed to keeping Bayonne affordable for our seniors and families.

Gary La Pelusa, Sr.
Third Ward Council Member

Gary La Pelusa, Sr. is a graduate of Washington Community School and Marist High School. Gary was a National Honor Society Student while he attended Marist. He continued his education at Seton Hall University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications.

Since 1990, Gary has owned and operated Gary La Pelusa Landscaping, a very successful landscaping company in Bayonne.

In June 2004, Gary was elected as a Democratic Committee Man for the 3rd Ward – 11th District. He has been re-elected every year since 2004.

Gary was elected as Third Ward Council Member on May 9, 2006. Upon taking office on July 1, 2006, Gary was very dedicated to seeing the concerns of the people were met throughout the community.

He is the Founder and Standard Bearer of the Gary La Pelusa Association, which was started in September 2005. The Gary La Pelusa Associaiton is a civic, charitable, and political organization that helps many groups and supports many worth while causes.

Gary is a Fourth Degree member of the Star of the Sea Knights of Columbus in Bayonne. He is also a lifelong parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Parish. Gary is a lector and former teacher is the Religious Education Program. Gary is the President of the Sons of Italy, Bayonne.

Gary La Pelusa formerly served as a Commissioner of the Bayonne Municipal Utilities Authority, The Urban Enterprise Zone, The Planning Board, All Saints Catholic Academy, and the Bayonne Medical Center Board of Directors.

Gary La Pelusa, Sr. and his wife, Cherie, are the proud parents of Gary, David, Jennifer, and Gianna.
