Theodore “Ted” Connolly was born in Brooklyn N.Y. on
November 2, 1947. He married Jean Colasurdo, a
lifelong Bayonne resident, and moved to Bayonne in
1979. They live on East 5th Street. Mr.
Connolly studied oceanography at Brookdale Community
College. He also attended New Jersey City
University, formerly Jersey City State College,
where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S.
degree in Business Management. He also received his
paralegal certificate from the American Institute of
Paralegal Studies at St. Peter’s College.
Ted Connolly is a Navy Veteran
and served from 1966 to 1970. He served two tours of
duty in Vietnam. Ted Connolly served as the Civilian
Aide to the Secretary of the Army for the State of
New Jersey from 1995 to 2001. In 2001 the U. S. Army
awarded him the “Outstanding Civilian Service
Medal”.
Mr. Connolly is active in his
parish at St. Andrew’s Church where he designed and
maintains their website. He also publishes and edits
the parish newsletter. At St. Andrew’s he serves as
Parish Council President and Eucharistic Minister.
He also chairs the annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner
Dance.
A life member of the Vietnam
Veterans of America, he was instrumental in
initiating the Annual Thanksgiving Food Basket
drive. He is active in a number of local civic
groups, most notably, the Concerned Citizens of
Bayonne where he serves as Chairman and Master of
Ceremonies of the “Frank P. Perrucci Civic
Achievement Award”.
Ted Connolly is a former
Special Assistant to U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg
where his duties included responsibilities for
oversight with the military, veterans’ affairs,
labor organizations, and the public safety sector
which included police officers and fire fighters.
Mr. Connolly assisted in securing enhanced equipment
and benefits at area VA hospitals and kept the
senator apprised of local developments around the
state.
