The City of Bayonne prepares an annual budget that is approved by Municipal Council and the State of New Jersey. 

The budget must also be advertised in a local newspaper and a public hearing is held for city  residents.  Prior to final adoption, the budget may be amended upon state approval and an additional public hearing held if necessary. Specific dates for the public hearings change from year-to-year, and are posted here.

The final version of the budget is then adopted upon a majority vote of the full membership of the Municipal Council. 

The City of Bayonne operates on a fiscal year of July 1st through June 30th.
