Second Workshop on How Bayonne Enterprises Can Accelerate Business on Facebook

Mayor Mark A. Smith announced that Bayonne’s Special Improvement District/Urban Enterprise Zone (SID/UEZ) will offer Part II of a workshop on how to accelerate your business on Facebook.  The event will take place on Thursday, May 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at the Networking Café, 418 Broadway, Bayonne. At an earlier workshop on March 20, participants learned the benefits of using Facebook.  At this second session, business representatives can put what they have learned into practice in a hands-on workshop.  Please bring a laptop computer to the session.  Free wifi (wire-free Internet) will be available at the site.

Mayor Smith said, “My Administration has taken numerous steps to promote doing business in Bayonne.  This seminar is just the latest effort among many to boost Bayonne enterprises.”  Mayor Smith continued, “Many local businesses lack a presence on the Internet, and they have not tried social media to improve their sales.  This SID/UEZ seminar will teach local enterprise owners the practicalities of using laptops to build a presence on Facebook.  When local businesses do well, they improve the local economy and provide more jobs in our community.”  Mayor Smith cited the Shop Bayonne Card, SID/UEZ promotional activities, and the Administration’s proposed Broadway redevelopment area around 23rd and 24th Streets, as examples of programs to improve Bayonne’s business districts.

The seminar will be conducted by the Lenox Group, a firm with expertise in public relations, social media, website development, and Internet commerce.  The seminar on May 15 is part two of a series of seminars to be presented in 2014.  At least three more business presentations will take place.  Future dates, topics, and details will be announced.  Previous SID/UEZ educational sessions have covered social media in general, the benefits of Facebook, the Shop Bayonne Card, and the programs of the New Jersey Business and Industry Association.

A light breakfast and refreshments will be served.  The seminar on Thursday, May 15, is free of charge.  Representatives of any Bayonne businesses are welcome to attend.  Businesses affiliated with the Urban Enterprise Zone and the Special Improvement District will be sent invitations. Please RSVP by May 11 by e-mailing, or by calling 201-858-6357.
