Mayor Mark A. Smith announced that the application period for low-income energy assistance has been extended to Monday, June 30, 2014. The application period for those who heat with natural gas or electricity began on March 17, 2014. Applications for Home Energy Assistance (HEA) and HEA emergency assistance will be accepted until June 30, 2014.
The application forms are available at the office of the Bayonne Economic Opportunity Foundation (BEOF), 555 Kennedy Boulevard, Bayonne. The BEOF staff is always available to help. The BEOF office is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays (except holidays) from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and on Wednesdays (except holidays) from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
All eligible applicants (clients with issued or pending HEA) can request HEA emergency assistance. For this emergency benefit, you must provide a shut-off notice from the utility company. No other document is acceptable.
The maximum energy benefit is $450.
