Mayor Mark A. Smith announced that the City of Bayonne’s Urban Enterprise Zone/Special Improvement District (UEZ/SID) Program is holding a seminar on how local businesses can use Facebook to increase trade. The event will take place on Thursday, March 20, at the Bayonne Community Museum, at 9th Street and Broadway, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A light breakfast and refreshments will be served. Mayor Smith said, “My Administration has taken numerous steps to promote doing business in Bayonne. This seminar is one effort among many to boost Bayonne enterprises.” Mayor Smith continued, “Many local businesses lack a presence on the Internet, and they have not tried social media to improve their sales. This UEZ/SID seminar will teach local enterprise owners how to promote themselves. When local businesses do well, they improve the local economy and provide more jobs in our community.” Mayor Smith cited the Shop Bayonne Card, UEZ/SID promotional activities, and the Administration’s proposed Broadway redevelopment area around 23rd and 24th Streets, as examples of programs to improve Bayonne’s business districts.
The seminar will be conducted by the Lenox Group, a firm with expertise in public relations, social media, website development, and Internet commerce. The seminar on March 20 is part one of a series of seminars to be presented in 2014. At least four more business presentations will take place. Future dates, topics, and details will be announced. Previous UEZ/SID educational sessions have covered social media in general, the Shop Bayonne Card, and the programs of the New Jersey Business and Industry Association.
The seminar on Thursday, March 20, is free of charge. Representatives of any Bayonne businesses are welcome to attend. Businesses affiliated with the Urban Enterprise Zone and the Special Improvement District were sent invitations. Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 201-858-6357.
