Mayor Mark A. Smith announced that the Bayonne Economic Opportunity Foundation (BEOF) will host a community Christmas Day dinner at 535 Avenue A (Back Bay Gardens), on Wednesday, December 25, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The meal will be sponsored by CarePoint Health at Bayonne Medical Center. Mayor Smith and members of the Bayonne City Council will be assisting at the event.
BEOF Executive Director Ana Quintela said the dinner is for those Bayonne individuals and families who do not have anywhere to go for the holiday. Tickets are required for this dinner, so that the organizers can provide the appropriate amount of food. They are available at 555 Kennedy Boulevard (the BEOF’s main office), the nutrition program at 535 Avenue A, and the nutrition program at 16 West 4th Street.
There is no charge for the tickets. Dinners will also be available through the BEOF’s Meals on Wheels program.
Mayor Smith said, “I would like to thank the BEOF and CarePoint Health at Bayonne Medical Center for coming together at this event. This dinner is a sign of Bayonne’s generosity in this holiday season.” He continued, “All residents should be proud of what the BEOF and the hospital are doing to help our neighbors during this festive time of year.” City Council President Terry Ruane said, “This special dinner is a team effort. In the true spirit of the holiday, we are very happy to work together to provide this meal to people on Christmas Day.”
