Construction Update: Bridge and Kennedy Blvd. Ramp Closures to Begin

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has advised the City of Bayonne of several imminent changes in traffic patterns that are related to Bayonne Bridge construction. The next phase of the Bayonne Bridge Navigational Clearance Project requires the closure of the Staten Island-bound Kennedy Boulevard on-ramp, the New Jersey-bound Kennedy Boulevard off-ramp, and certain overnight closures of the Bayonne Bridge in both directions.
On Monday, December 2, the Bayonne Bridge entrance from Kennedy Boulevard will be closed, and traffic will be detoured onto Avenue A for bridge access. On Tuesday, December 3, the exit from the bridge onto Kennedy Boulevard will be closed, and traffic will be detoured to 5th Street. These entrance and exit closings are expected to last for two years, according to the Port Authority.
The Bayonne Bridge will be closed overnight each night in both directions on Monday, December 2, Tuesday, December 3, and Wednesday, December 4, 2013, from 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. the following morning.
Beginning on Thursday, December 5, no parking will be allowed on Margaret Street. Vehicles will be able to enter from Kennedy Boulevard and exit back onto it. This situation will be in effect fro two years.
Also beginning on Thursday, December 5, a portion of 3rd Street and part of the sidewalk on that street will be closed. The street will be open, and both traffic lanes will be moved to the north side of the street. This traffic pattern will be in effect for two years.-+
