Mayor Mark A. Smith announced that the first annual Bayonne Arts and Music Festival will take placeFriday, June 14, from 6:00 to11:00 p.m., on Broadway between 9th and 10th Streets. Mayor Smith said, “My Administration is proud to encourage the arts in our community. This first annual festival will bring together visual arts and musical entertainment. I would like to encourage Bayonne residents and visitors to come to the festival, and enjoy the art exhibits, the music, and the food.”
As part of the festival, an art exhibit will open at the Bayonne Community Museum at 9th Street and Broadway on Friday, June 14, 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The art exhibit will also be open to the public on Saturday, June 15, 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.; and Monday, June 17, through Friday, June 21, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. There will also be outdoor art demonstrations during the festival. The activities on the street will include a sketch artist and other artists who will paint on boards.
The event will feature live music from local bands. The Bayonne High School Jazz Band will play inside the Bayonne Community Museum. The Ziggy Christie Band will present oldies music on the street. Outdoor seating will be available. Restaurants participating in the festival are the 8th St. Broadway Diner and Bistro, R&B’z, Sarelli’s, and Tony’s Pizzeria.
The festival is presented by Mayor Mark A. Smith, the City Council, and the Bayonne Arts Circle. In order to accommodate the event, the portion of Broadway in the area around 9th and 10th Streets will be closed to traffic.
The rain date for the festival is Saturday, June 15, from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
