Mayor Mark A. Smith announced that a contractor working in the vicinity of Avenue E and 52nd Street in Bayonne damaged a water transmission main while working in that area. Mayor Smith said, “Employees from the Bayonne MUA and United Water are responding to the situation and will be conducting the necessary repairs. At this time, we do not expect anyone to experience an interruption in service, although some areas may experience lower than usual water pressure.” Mayor Smith continued, “The area around the Turnpike entrance at Interchange 14 A may be subject to detours as work is performed in this area. Please allow extra time if you must use the Turnpike while repairs are being made. We appreciate your patience as we work to make the necessary repairs.”
