Mayor Mark Smith and City Administrators Review Security Policies at Bayonne Schools

In light of the tragic events in Newtown Ct., Bayonne Mayor Mark Smith and Public Safety Director Jason O’Donnell spent the weekend along with Police Chief Ralph Scianni, the Superintendent of Schools and key Board of Education personnel reviewing security and safety policies and procedures at each of Bayonne’s elementary schools and Bayonne High School. “We want to assure Bayonne families that our schools are safe and that our Board of Education is working continuously to further enhance safety and security at each school,” said Mayor Smith.

Smith said the school district administration will be meeting again this week with Bayonne Public Safety officials to complete a comprehensive security review at each facility. Until the review is completed, residents can expect to see an increased police presence at neighborhood schools as well as enhanced school entry procedures.
