Mayor Mark A. Smith announced that the Recreation Division will hold a Spring Chess Camp at the Bayonne Museum, 9th Street & Broadway, Monday, April 9 through Thursday, April 12, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. each day.
Chess Master Joe Lux will be conducting the camp, which will include lectures and discussion, as well as tournament style games.
The camp is open to Bayonne residents, boys and girls, ages 7-14.
The cost of the four-day camp is $25.00 per participant.
Chess Boards will be provided, but campers may bring their own boards.
Supervisor of Recreation Pete Amadeo stated: “Chess is one of the most strategic games played, and the Division of Recreation is very excited to offer this great camp. Players will have the opportunity to improve their chess skills, and learn the strategic essentials it takes to be successful at chess tournaments. I encourage all chess players in Bayonne to join.”
