Senior Health Fair Promises Health Information, Free Raffles and Fun on Thursday, November 10

A senior health fair will take place on Thursday, November 10, at the 4th Street Senior Center, 16 West 4th Street- 2nd Floor, Bayonne, NJ. The Fair will begin at 10:00 a.m. and continue through 1:00 p.m. There will be many health service providers on hand to offer health screening for the seniors and helpful information on various topics. Topics and presenters will include: Medicaid and Open Enrollment- from the Bayonne Office on Aging and the Senior Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP); Nutritional Counseling and Physical Fitness -from Montclair State University; Blood Pressure Screening and Prescription Medication Management -from the City of Bayonne Health Division Clinic; Drug and Alcohol Information from Wellness Partners in Prevention; Alzheimer’s Education for Families- from Visiting Homemakers of Hudson County; and Home Safety/ Falls Prevention from Bayada Nurses – just to name a few. The Hudson County Area Agency on Aging, a co-sponsor of the event, will also be making a presentation. The health fair is open and free to all Hudson County seniors. There is an elevator on the basement floor of the 4th Street Senior Center and wheelchair accessibility for those needing assistance to the 2nd floor.

Highlights for the seniors include free raffles with wonderful prizes from many generous local businesses including Al Richards Chocolates, Big Apple Restaurant, Broadway Bagels, Buon Appetito Restaurant, Carvel Ice Cream Shop, Hot Nails Salon, Liberty Science Center IMAX Theatre, Longhorn Steakhouse, Sacalis Florist, and Luciano’s San Vito’s Restaurant.

The health fair is presented through the City of Bayonne Office on Aging and Division of Health Clinic, Montclair State University, and the Hudson County Area Agency on Aging, along with the participation and support of Bayonne Mayor Mark Smith, Municipal Services Director Joseph A. Waks, Esq., Hudson County Executive Thomas A. De Gise, the Hudson County Department of Health and Human Services, and the Hudson County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
