City to Poll Residents on Issue of Youth Curfew

Mayor Mark A. Smith announced that the City of Bayonne is interested in learning the public’s views on the concept of a youth curfew. Smith said, “In light of recent incidents, my Administration is exploring various options for maintaining order overnight on city streets. One of the ideas that some people have suggested is a youth curfew. We have not made a final decision about this idea or any other proposal. We would like to have the public’s views about a youth curfew, so we have set up an on-line poll about this issue on the City of Bayonne’s website.” Mayor Smith continued, “Anyone interested in participating in the on-line poll should go to the homepage of the website, www.bayonnenj.org

Questions in the poll include: 1) Should Bayonne have a youth curfew? Answer: Yes. No. Don’t know. 2) If there were a youth curfew, what ages should it cover? Answer: Under age 16. Under age 18. 3) If there were a youth curfew, what times should it be? Answer: 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. 12:00 midnight to 6:00 a.m. 4) Should parents be held responsible for their children’s actions? Answer: Yes. No. Don’t know. 5) What is your age? Answer: Under 18. 18-35. 36-59. 60 and above.
